A love for music eventually led to a love for the written word. Growing up in Phoenix, Arizona I was exposed to music at a very young age courtesy of my tata and my parents. This love for music grew over the years and it was when I discovered Hip-Hop that everything in my world changed. The beats always drew me in, but it was the verses from the emcees that sparked that creative fuse. It was my escape, so many of my memories in life are tied to music. As I began listening more and more I began to dissect the words and immerse myself in this world these emcees created. I began writing poetry and short stories that I would share with anyone who would listen. As time went on I would join a group of likeminded and talented emcees and writers and begin making music. Though I never wanted to be or claimed to be a rapper it is a long running joke that I am one. I am simply a poet. Read more
